Kippax Methodist Church

Reverend Henry Dubois, the minister for Kippax and Trinity Methodist Church, Castleford. Tel. number 0113 2877669

During a service of dedication on Saturday 30th July lead by our minister Rev Henry Dubois, the new extension was opened by the former minister at Kippax, Rev Laurence Turner. The service was attended by over 130 members and friends and included representatives from the Parish Council who have been most supportive of the scheme, and Cllrs Parker & Lewis from the City Council.

Everyone is very welcome to attend Worship on a Sunday morning and to come to our regular activities, as well as special events. About fifty people usually attend morning worship. If you wish to come you will be made very welcome. Please stay for coffee after the service and get to know us better. Pram Club on Monday afternoons is extremely well attended; mums make new friends and share baby concerns. Tuesday coffee mornings can be busy and we are able to cater for young children as well. Knit and natter is a relaxing monthly afternoon of chat, coffee and knitting. We have knitted or crocheted over 60 blankets as well as numerous teddies and some baby clothes for charity. We are open to new ideas. At the present the building is hired by a “self defence” group on a Tuesday evening, most rooms can be hired by the hour.

 KIPPAX ART GROUP,

We are a self-help group whose members range from complete beginners, to experienced artists who are always happy to help and advise. It’s members work in a wide range of mediums. The group meet at 7.15pm to 9.15pm every Wednesday EXCEPT the 3rd Wednesday of the month at Gibson Lane community Centre. The fee is £15 a quarter, which includes refreshments. Since it started in October 2010, members have enjoyed watching demonstrations by Professional Artists plus, how artist’s brushes are made, with the opportunity to buy at reasonable prices. They have held 2 exhibitions at local Summer Fairs, one at the medieval church of St Mary, Kippax and the other in Kippax North Primary School. A group also had a day out in Ilkley where they went to an Art Materials Exhibition. Other activities are under discussion. For further details contact Jacky on 0113 2867286 or by email to Jackymt@gmail.com . Or why not just call in one Wednesday when you will be made very welcome.
